Overview
This is a nationally recognised qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders, including selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with clients. The builder may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building licensing authority in the State or Territory. Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this qualification may be required.
The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all included units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.
Additional units of competency may be required to meet builder registration requirements in various States and Territories

Have four years equivalent full-time relevant work experience.
Academic: Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or the equivalent level of study
Age: Aged 18 or above at the at the time of enrolment application.
ENGLISH Proficiency:
1. Minimum English level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or
2. IELTS band score of 5.0 and satisfactory completion of an Upper Intermediate ELICOS or EAL/EAP program of 10 weeks or up to 20 weeks; or
3. Successful completion of a 5-year education/study in a English speaking country such as Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa or United Kingdom; or
4. If you originate from a country that is *exempt from meeting the English Language requirements set by the DHA, successful completion of Tr4in Right’s Language,
Literacy and Numeracy Test; or
5. Within 2 years of application date, successful completion in Australia of:
a. a foundation course; or
b. a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education; or
c. a substantial part (at least 70%) of a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification,
from the Australian Qualifications Framework (refer to www.aqf.edu.au/)

6. The learning materials and assessment within this qualification are in a written or workbook format. Therefore, to successfully complete this course, you must have the ability to read and comprehend learning.
To ensure that you have the necessary English Proficiency levels required to meet the course requirements, you are also required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test. If the result is lower than the minimum requirement, it is recommended that you enrol in IELTS or ELICOS courses.

Please note:
• IELTS or other equivalent English Proficiency test results older than 2 years are not accepted unless you have completed 2 years of study in Australia.
• Assessment of overseas qualification against the AQF requirements may be referred to the equivalency table for each country.

Ability to cope with the physical demands of the training and assessment that involves working at heights, heavy lifting, manual labour, operation of tools (both manual and power tools) etc and must have a sense of balance.

Assessments may be both formative and summative and may include a combination of practical activities (mainly demonstrations), projects, assignments, written assessments (via online), role plays, case studies.

This qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry that covers residential and commercial projects.
Students may exit from the program at any point and be awarded a Statement of Attainment for any completed unit of competency
