Course Guide
Overview
This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.
Age: Aged 18 or above at the at the time of enrolment application.
Overseas qualifications:
Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification or accepted variations.
ENGLISH Proficiency:
1. Minimum English level of IELTS 5.5 (written and oral bands of no less than 5.5) or equivalent; or
2. Completion of a full general ELICOS course (up to Upper Intermediate level); or
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, completion of a Pre-training interview and undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test to ensure that you have the necessary English Proficiency levels to meet the course requirements. If a learner has done the Pre-Training Review and LLN assessment previously at Tr4in Right for a previous qualification in the same stream, then this is not required.
Please note:
• IELTS or other equivalent English Proficiency test results older than 2 years are not accepted unless you have completed 2 years of study in Australia.
Computer Proficiency
Good digital literacy (to use digital technologies to access information via internet and use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point)

You must have study rights in Australia when you commence and while you undertake studies
Self-study
Students are required to invest a minimum of 10 hours a week of self-directed learning to complete self-study and assessments.

All students will have access to WIFI at Tr4in Right’s campus, however access to computers is limited and on a first-in- first-served basis.

NOTE: Documents in a language other than English must be translated to English by a NAATI approved translator only.
NOTE: If student is not able to provide any of the accepted evidence of English Language Proficiency, Tr4in Right will assign the student with an Oxford Placement Test, to determine the level of proficiency.
NOTE: All documents for offshore applications must be certified by a government agency.
Assessment may be both formative and summative and may include a combination of projects, assignments, written assessments, role plays, case studies and activities.
On successful completion of this qualification, students may undertake further tertiary level qualifications including higher education courses in the field of civil engineering.
